diary of a sick & sad rabbit

lovely little bunny

lovely little bunny keeps quiet and reads her books. she is told she is so good and mature and smart and talented and has such a bright future. she loves music and art and fiction and sunshine.

lovely little bunny is too quiet. the other bunnies giggle and tell her that she is too shy and needs to make friends. she tries to talk to the other bunnies her age but feels like they speak a different language.

lovely little bunny is too loud. she plays her guitar and listens to her mother’s old cds. she loves films and tv shows about bunnies that act like her. at school she is told she is a distraction to the other bunnies in class, but the other bunnies have always talked and played during lessons.

lovely little bunny is quiet again. she is a rabbit now, and is told she needs to act like it. she wakes up and hears worms in her brain telling her she’s still too loud, almost rabid.

lovely little bunny meets another rabbit her age. this one is different. it never tells her she’s too loud and in fact asks her to speak up. it tells her that she is so good and smart and talented and that maturity is overrated anyway.

lovely little rabbit remembers being a bunny. she learns to set boundaries and finds people who love her as she is. she lets go of the restraints she trained herself to tolerate. the worms are still there but their messages are fading and she dreams that they’ll soon be a whisper.
